You might be thinking about investing your money, if you are this list will interest you. Here is a list of what some of the major investments out there are and how they work. Each investment on this list has the potential to build your wealth over the long term.

1. Bonds

The first kind of security is a bond. A bond is basically debt. When you buy a bond from a company you are buying debt from that company. The company has to pay you reoccurring interest payments and at the end of the lifespan of the bond they have to buy it back. In short you become the bank. You loan money out, get interest payments, and get your money back. It is a relatively safe way to invest your money.

2. Commodity Future Contracts

The futures contract is basically a contract which allows you to own a specific commodity to be delivered at a point in time in the future. If you own a futures contract by the time it comes due you will end up with the commodity. However if you buy and sell it before the date comes by you can profit from the price movements that the commodity makes during that time.

3. Stocks

Another way to invest your money is to invest into stocks. These are simply investments that allow you to control part of a company. As the company grows so do your shares of stock. In addition to that, if you happen to own dividend paying stocks you will also make money as the company makes money because they pay you.

If you invest into the right company they can be a fantastic way to invest your money.

4. ETF Investments

ETFs simply track the performance of other securities on the list. An ETF might consist of say the top 500 stocks in America. Or it might keep buying future contracts and rebuying them at a later date as their contracts start to approach the due date.

Buying ETFs is a great way to get a diversified holding. If you would like to invest in a specific sector in the market and do not know how to pick the best stocks fundamentally you can always buy an ETF.
