Financial Spread Betting has many advantages which make it popular. I would like to show you some of this advanatges as well as the disadvantages now.

The first advantage and it is something that hear a lot about is that you don't have to pay tax. In the UK, financial spread betting is tax free. That is great news for traders especially with the capital gains tax rise that is planned. You don't even have to pay stamp duty.

Having said that this is only useful if you are actually making profits. You won't be able to offset any of your loses you make else where. And specifically in financial spread betting because of its leverage, if you do make losses and you don't protect yourself well enough, the losses could be substantial.

The other great advantage of financial spread betting is that it is so easy to learn and it is very easy to short trade shares (or any other asset for that matter). This is a really useful feature as it is as easy to short as it is to go long. This gives you full flexibility in any market.

There are so many markets for you to trade in. The great advantage is that you can trade different asset type from the same financial spread betting account. This makes it very easy to switch from one market to the other. You can also use this to diversify.

You don't have to worry about currency movements when you are trading stocks abroad. If you were interested in going long on General Electric but were worried about the dollard become weeker then financial spread betting could be the answer. You bet on the price movement and it doesn't matter what currency the stock is in.

This is good news for traders as they don't have to worry about the currency movements. If you do want to be exposed to currency movements then consider buying the shares as normal or open and currency bet.

Financial spred betting has many advantages but is also risky. Why not try paper trading until you feel comfortable?
