Modern Meanings Of Liquid Gold
Gold remained in history as the equivalent of everything which is of best quality and not very often to be found in the world. That is why the English language holds the idiom "as good as gold". But why have some people started using the terms of "liquid gold" and what does it refer to?
In fact, real gold is not so often used in its liquid form. Architecture needs it when it has to restore some walls from ancient palaces or to redress the condition of some pieces of furniture that used to be golden.
Moreover, the glittering aspect of gold can be borrowed to human beings by using very small quantities of liquid gold in cosmetic products. Somehow, this idea was borrowed from Diana de Poitiers, a lady who impressed the king of France. Back then, she found a different use to the liquid gold. In fact, she thought that by frequently drinking some quantities of liquid gold would maintain her beauty and youth. The problem was that the too large quantity of liquid gold managed to kill her while she was still beautiful.
The other oil, also known as crude oil is petroleum. It is used on a large scale and just as gold, the entire worlds asks for it. Another similarity refers to its limited resources which makes it even more valuable.
Another "brother" of gold at least in what concerns its value is the black "liquid gold", meaning petrol. Just as gold, petrol seems to be a good investment and unfortunately the rivalry over territories rich in petrol has killed many people. Just as with gold, petrol in in great demand and this "need" makes it become so precious. The similarity with the other "liquid gold" mentioned before is the fact it is also called oil, crude oil to be more precise.
Moreover, another important "liquid" is the colostrums. It has the consistency of milk, rich in any substance that the new born is in need of. Besides this another one would be the gold necessary to plants, the most appreciated urine used in agriculture. In time, some of these "liquids" will be replaced by some others and get appreciated for other qualities. For centuries, that one which has remained the same was gold and its unchanged value.
