Several Types Of Ants
Ants are seen all over the planet, from the hottest deserts to the lush green rainforests. They can be seen in our landscapes, in our homes, & even in our workplaces. They live in colonies, and in a single colony are over a million other ants. There are several different ant species. Some of the better-known kinds are the army ants, bulldog ants, driver ants, fire ants, honeypot ants, leaf cutter ants, silver ants, & weaver ants. Ant colonies are made of three classes of ants, namely the workers, the soldiers, & the lone queen.
Ants are 1 of the most common creatures in the world and are of different types. Regardless of their tiny size they may pose a threat to animals and even humans.
The behavior of ants may vary depending on their class. Ants' color may vary from black or red to brown and their size range from 2 to 25 mm.
Army ants and driver ants are highly developed ants. Driver ants can be found in Africa and army ants are found in South America. Unlike other species, they do not have permanent nests. Their colonies reproduce by two ways - nuptial flights or fission.
Ants that build their nests in trees by attaching leaves together are known as weaver ants. These creatures first pull the leaves together with a bridge of workers and then they sew the leaves by pressing silk producing larvae on the leaves.
Ants with generally have enlarged bellies are called honeypot ants. They usually live in hot, dry places such as Australia, Africa, North America & they can be found in deserts as well. Some places considered them as a great delicacy.
Leaf cutter ants live only within their colony & feed exclusively on fungus. They come in different sized classes to carry out various functions that are to be done in the colony.
Another unique type of ant is the fire ant. These ants have a sac of poison that is filled with piperidine alkaloids.
The Australian bulldog ants are those with only one chromosome & these are amongst the biggest & most primitive varieties of ants.
Are you wondering about the importance of administering pest control measures in your home? Even if you may not be thinking about it now, someday in the future, for various reasons, you may put your house up for sale. Real estate brokers and possible buyers alike would generally avoid a pest-infested dwelling, knowing full well that it is an unwise investment. For instance, even you yourself would be unhappy if the property you are aiming to buy is overran with termites. Also, if you are thinking about utilizing your home as a collateral for a loan, there is a higher likelihood that a lending institution would deny your loan application if they see pest infestation when they visually inspect your house. Thus, even if the cost to hire a professional pest control company to eradicate pest infestations in your property may be high, think of it a wonderful investment for the future resale value of your house.
