Strategies To Make Money In The Stock Market
The stock market can be a powerful way to increase your wealth. There are many different strategies out there which people use to take full advantage of it. Everybody is different, but all traders will fit into one of these trading types.
1. Buying and Holding
Most people preach the buy and hold strategy. That is because it is simple, passive and most people can do it without much effort. How long does it really take to buy a couple mutual funds or ETFs and forget about it after all? Because stocks historically go up over the long term this can be a relatively safe way of investing, if you invest into a stock long enough.
1. Following the Trend
Another strategy that is a little more active than buying and holding, but can also be more powerful is called trend trading. The idea behind this strategy is simple, buy stocks that are going up, and sell stocks that are going down or sideways. While it may be simple, traders who have mastered this strategy really do beat the market over the long term.
3. Short Term Swing Trading
Swing traders use technical indicators to buy and sell stocks in the short term in order to make profit when all is said and done. Any trade that takes over 1 day and has a profit target as well as a stop loss can be considered to be a swing trade.
4. Trading Options
Stock options give investors a way to leverage their money and to make huge returns from the stock market. There is only one problem; they can also give traders huge losses. For that reason it is best to only consider options after you are already profitable trading stocks.
5. Day Trading Stocks
Day trading has been given a bad name by professional buy and holders, but the truth is it can be very profitable. Any trade that was bought and sold before the end of the trading day is considered to be a day trade. Day traders may have their ups and downs, but overall they can be very profitable.
Each one of these strategies can be extremely profitable if done correctly. The more passive of an investor you are the better buy and hold sounds, the more active you want to be the better day trading sounds. Experimenting with different strategies can help you to get an idea of what fits you best as well as how the market works in general.
