The history of gold is really difficult to trace back. Once you think that you discovered its traces in a certain period and in a certain aria, something new appears to contradict you. That is why it is more intelligent to say that gold has the same age as humanity, but in fact, it could be even older than that.

Some evidence we have starts even from the Holly Bible mentioning a certain land which had gold in its hypogeal. Other masterpieces in literature mention the presence of gold in different epochs and in different parts of the world. Its quantity is said to be large enough to build three villas with twelve rooms.

At the beginning, it was like a god. In Egypt, gold was destined only to the superior classes and it was the metal that gods accepted as tribute. Thanks to the fact that it does not tarnish, it is considered an immortal metal. This fact made the Pharaohs and other important kings ask their subject to make their mortuary mask from gold.

The mortuary mask of Agamemnon, king of Mycenae stands as undeniable proof ever since it has been discovered and preserved in the museum. The other pieces from the Egyptian museums have deciphered the way of the gold in the world as they have the first gold map on a papyrus.

From that idea of immortality maintained through the practice of the kings of having gold mortuary masks, the glittering metal reached a different dimension. It was the equivalent of money and after king Croesus of Lydia minted the first gold coin, all kings followed his example.

The next stage for of the glittering metal steered some fever among those who own gold but even more among those who dreamt about it. It was the gold fever which heated so much people's minds that so many of them acted foolishly only to find the precious metal. America was probably the most promising land for gold.

In the banking system, the precious metal was used at the beginning in order to cover all the money the bank has. Banks nowadays do not have so much gold, but owning gold is still a back up. So, in case you want to live without worrying about your investments, buy gold.
