Gold has different meanings in different cultures, but one thing that is universal is its value. In every country, the national currency can be replaced by gold, since it is recognized internationally. And although it has been constantly considered precious, the cultural concept evolved as the centuries passed and it did so in various ways in different civilizations.

The Middle East is a place where people seem to be most attached to this precious metal. Otherwise this wouldn't be the place where the first gold vending machines appeared. The machines that turn money into gold can be found in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. This must have happened because of a noteworthy demand for buying gold.

Gold can also inspire authority. In South Asia, a wedding is the best example to illustrate this. The bride is adorned here with as much jewelry as possible, because they display the wealth of the families. This passion for gold jewelry is almost universal, and it launched an interesting habit. In times of recession, women living for example in the United States started organizing gold parties, where they sold their gold jewelry to gold buyers.

The interest in gold is much older than the twentieth century. In ancient times, gold was a distinctive attribute of the gods and common people only dreamed about it. The precious metal adorned the statues of gods. Later on, when ancient gods were replaced by saints, gold was the material used for representing the divine realm. And it still is today.

Since the passion for gold is much older than the twentieth century, there are also ancient stories about it. Back then, gold was a sign of divine nature and it was reserved for gods. This yellow metal adorned the statues of gods and, later on, it was reserved for saints.

In Eastern Europe, gold inspires confidence for many people. Especially in countries with fragile national currencies, gold is considered a trustworthy investment. Those who are exceptionally attached to it, display it even in their mouth, in the shape of gold teeth. Another interesting event takes place in regions inhabited by Turks. Here, gold is considered one of the most valuable presents. Therefore, people offer it not only for birthdays, weddings, but also when somebody buys a new house. This is after all one of the most developed gold markets in the world.
