Investing directly in stocks also takes research. Instead of putting in the time for all the initial learning as well as keeping up with research, you could instead invest in mutual funds.
With mutual funds, you don't need to learn a lot about stocks, and you don't have to do research for stocks either. With a mutual fund, the stock manager takes care of the research and stock purchases.
It doesn't matter if you invest in mutual funds and spend 5 minutes a month thinking about it or if you spend several hours a week researching your own stocks. As long as you are investing for your future.
